Annual Events
The Golden Valley Fire Relief Association holds various special events throughout the year to deepen its relationship with the community and to help the Golden Valley Fire Department in educating the public in fire prevention and safety activities.
Some of the education happenings include supporting the efforts of the GVFD including helping to buy safety equipment for various classes at local schools, community groups and the general education fund. The organization also provides promotional materials including plastic helmets and fire t-shirts for the GVFD annual Open House to promote the fire service and encourage having a safe community.
The organization is also involved in several events that give back to local charities and initiatives that allows us to reinvest in the community. The GVFRA staffs a weekend of bellringing for the Salvation Army at the Golden Valley Byerly’s. These are just a few ways we’re able to give back to the community.
2023 Santa for a Senior
As part of the GV Fire Family, the group enjoys distributing gifts during the holiday season for the Be a Santa to a Senior program. To participate:
- Visit Lund’s and Byerly’s Duluth Street location
- Pick an “ornament”, which lists the needs of a local senior
- Put the gifts in a bag and drop the gift back at Lund’s and Byerly’s
GVFRA takes it from there and delivers the gifts to two care facilities (Bryn Mawr and Brookview a Villa Center)
The last day to drop a gift at Lund’s and Byerly’s is December 11th, 2023. Thank you for participating!
