GV Fire Family
Back in the day, the Women’s Auxiliary was formed to help the firefighters become better acquainted. Their main function was to provide refreshments to firefighters in the event of a working fire. Getting together socially helped families understand the pressures and inconveniences of being a fire family.
Later in 1989, the auxiliary was disbanded, but by the mid-2010s, a more modern group had formed. The GV Fire Family was established to promote friendship amongst the Golden Valley firefighters and their families. The group, led by several spouses of GV firefighters, has organized several events to get the families together including GV Fire Family picnics, different crafting and project events, and its partnership with the local Golden Valley Starbucks and the Be a Santa for a Senior program.
Although the GV Fire Family isn’t officially part of the Golden Valley Fire Relief Association, there is an amazing amount of respect given to these dedicated people and the invaluable service they give to the GVFRA and the community of Golden Valley.
