The Golden Valley Fire Department (GVFD) provides fire suppression, fire code enforcement, and fire prevention services. Under the direction of the fire chief, the GVFD includes a deputy fire chief, a fire education specialist, two fire/property maintenance specialists, 50 paid on-call firefighters, an administrative assistant, and an office clerk.

Each year the Golden Valley Fire Department responds to about 750 – 800 calls, including fires, emergencies, automobile accidents, medicals, and mutual aid to other communities.
